Today's Debate in Stamford
(posted on October 16, 2006)
With today’s debate, Joe decisively showed the voters of Connecticut why he deserves to be reelected, highlighting his strong record of working across party lines to deliver results for Connecticut and his unique ability to break the partisan gridlock that is blocking progress on so many big challenges facing the country today.
When Ned was not acting like an innocent bystander in the debate, he continued his negative and dishonest attacks on Joe, failed to outline any new ideas, and spoke mostly in vague generalities.
In the process, Ned just reinforced our point that he would have no ability to bring people together and solve problems people care about — and that he would just add to the finger-pointing and game-playing in Washington.
Joe, on the other hand, made a compelling case that the only way to fix what’s wrong with Washington is to put people ahead of politics and do what’s right for our state and our country.
That’s just what Joe has done throughout his 18 years in the Senate -- whether it was working with Team Connecticut to save the New London Sub Base, working with the Connecticut Congressional delegation to clean up the Long Island Sound, or working with Republican Senators John McCain and Susan Collins to create the 9/11 Commission, implement its recommendations, and pass a landmark port security bill to fix the holes in our domestic defenses.
And that’s just what Joe will continue doing, as he spelled out in the debate, to help end the war in Iraq without compromising our security, create the next generation of good jobs, fix our broken health care system, provide a quality education to every child, protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare for generations to come, and grow the middle class and keep the American Dream alive for all who seek it.
Ned could not come close to matching that positive vision or command of the issues. And sadly, he too often fell back on repeating the same lame distortions of Joe's record that have been proven to be false or exposed as hypocritical.
Ned knows that Joe is opposed to Social Security privatization, and it is beneath him as a candidate for U.S. Senate to repeat that outrageous lie in front of a statewide audience.
Just the same, he knows his attack on Joe’s voting record is grossly hypocritical and misleading. He knows that Joe’s career voting percentage is exactly the same as his (93 percent). He also knows that the overwhelming number of votes that Joe Lieberman missed came in two limited time periods when he was running for vice president and president to defeat George Bush and make the country a better place, and that outside of those two periods Joe had a 98 percent voting record.
Not least of all, Ned knows that the reason Connecticut gets less federal spending than many other states is that we are the richest state in the union. He also knows that, if you look at a more objective measure, federal spending on a per-person basis, Connecticut ranks 8th in the country.
Ned can attack and distort all he wants, but he can’t change the facts. And he certainly can’t change Washington with his negative, dishonest, no-ideas brand of politics.”

What the fuck, Eric?!?
Did you even WATCH the debate?
Christ, Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger fucking PWNED your hero Joey!
And you DON'T even mention him by name in your entire debate wrap-up?!?
What the fuck is WRONG with you?
So strange. I saw Eric before the debate outside the Marriott. I even spoke with him. Based on this review, he must have hopped on the hotel elevator and exited in some parallel universe where Lieberman actually won the debate. Because here in Stamford (on planet Earth), Lieberman got his balls handed to him by Republican Alan S.
I didn't know you were there today! Did you do any blogging, or were you just there for the fireworks?
Joe's debate today:
ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK, ATTACK
ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK,(Senator, times up) ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, (Senator, times up) ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK,ATTACK, ATTACK, (Senator, times up!) ATTACK, ATTACK ....(now excuse me while I rush out the back door!)
LMAO!!!
Yeah, that about summed it up.
Except you forget the part where Schlesinger mercilessly beat Joe into a stunned pulpy mess.
I want Ned to be my senator, but I'll take Alan on my side in a bar fight ANY day! :)
And what has Incurious Eric Went-Blank has to say about the REAL Republican, (Alan S) candidate's take on his FAKE Democrate/Republican (take your pick; depending on which party you support:) candidate Joe LIE-man?
NOTHING.
Just the same theme as the LIE-man who pays him - ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK ......WHOA MAN .....little eric is behaving like a well paid whore, just like his master - ignore reality when the truth hurts!
Hey, little eric went-blank ...... did you notice another candidate in the debate? The REAL Republican called Alan Schlesinger? What did he has to say about your boss, the FAKE Republican? Any comments at all?
BTW he was pounding on your FAKE Republican BOSS and yet you are not whining about " ...attack,attack, ...attack ...attack ..." Why? Is it ok take it lying down when it comes from the Republicans? Just like your boss? Do you guys get paid for taking it lying down from the Republicans? Were you an ex-traumatised page, too?
Lieboremon-You stunk it up bad! Alan S., "Joe, your time is up! No pun intended." N.Y. Times closing sentence in debate review. People are going to remember!
The Democratic Primary LOSER aka FAKE Republican aka DINO Joe LIE-man got trashed by the REAL Republican for his masquerade.
And since Joe LIE-man did not have much ideas (not in 18 years; other than to say "Yes, Bush ...), all he did was ATTACK Lamont. Experience .....what experience? Yes, not only CT needs change, the enire US needs change. Washington is becoming too much of a whorehouse with too many yesman pandering to a BUSH.
Go Lamont:)!
Isn't it odd to admit the defeat of your dear Ned by trying to help a republican. Ned's toast.
WaPO has slammed Ned's stupid! Stupid! STUPID! campaign.

BTW, manic schlesinger has several serious problems in his closet. Except thatthey're not too often in his closet and that door is opening wider.
Alan Schlesinger is truly the REAL Republican from his immigration stand to his fiscal conservative position. He may not appeal to the liberal Republicans, but there are PLENTY of conservative Republicans who are just sick over the enormous debt that Bush and his rubber stamping congress, including Joe, have burdened the next several generations. Alan can’t win, but he knows he has enough votes to kick Joe out which will only strengthen his message; otherwise, he wouldn't be in this race. He is definitely trying to make a statement about the debt and making sure people are aware that Joe has been part of that problem! Just because Joe and his idiot supporters have their heads in the sand (more like up their asses) doesn't take away the fact that Schlesinger will undoubtedly get at least 20% (if not more) of the Republican vote. So painting Schlesinger as "manic" is laughable -- because the polls right now are reflecting the whole country is manic in wanting to throw this Administration and their (Joe) enablers OUT OF OFFICE!!!
Dear Ned is exactly that - Dear Ned. He is sincere and he intends to make changes. The US is heading in the wrong direction in many ways and need these changes desperately and "Dear Ned" is the beginning of those changes. He is putting his money in for us. Joe LIE-man is taking money in from the lobbyist running the country. Joe is selfish whereas "Dear Ned" has the country's interest in mind.
Holy, sanctimonous, delusional, morally confused truth-evading yes-bushman Joe LIE-man is part of the reason why we need those changes.
Go Dear Ned!!!!!!!!
i could swear that there were 3 people on statge, and there is no way that joe won. Alan stole the show, and make Joe look like a whiney, arrogant man!
The world is starting to see Joe as exactly what he is:
A sanctimonious, bitter, bought-and-paid-for serf of the Bush/Cheney regime.
As it gets closer to his inevitable defeat, watch for Lieberman to get more and more dirty, and accept help from any source that offers.
Joe, if you lie with pigs, don't be insulted when everybody starts calling you a swine.
Wow. Eric was at a different debate than I was. At the one at the Stamford Marriott, Joe whine/attacked so much that most people finally groaned/laughed at him.
(Memo to Eric/Dangerstein: That dog don't hunt no more. Ya beat it to death.)
And at the debate in Stamford, Schlesinger kicked Joe's ass. Soundly.
