As the Blogs Turn (on Ned), Part II

(posted on October 14, 2006)

You know things are getting dicey for Negative Ned when even the leading liberal blog Talking Points Memo runs a brutal piece like this:

CT-SEN: Lamont Smacks Forehead Repeatedly, Berates Self as “Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!”"

It’s been a surprisingly long time since the Midterm Roundup took a look at the Senate race in Connecticut, which for a while there – before Foley, before Macaca, so long, long, long ago – was the very cornerstone of this column. Since Lamont’s whirlwind rise and huge upset in the August 8 Democratic primary, it feels to the Roundup like a sort of “mm, that was fun, wasn’t it, oh well…” indifference has gradually settled back onto the race. Once-giddy Lamont supporters haven’t found their man ahead in a single post-primary poll. And Lamont’s name has been noticeably absent from recent weeks’ headlines.

Until now. Unfortunately for Lamont though, not for the right reason.

Not helping Lamont’s cause the slightest bit was a recent campaign letter criticizing Joe Lieberman’s past stance on affirmative action and a comment made Wednesday by former state Treasurer and Lamont endorser Henry E. Parker. At a press conference, with Lamont at his side, Parker questioned Senator Joe Lieberman’s civil rights work in Mississippi in the early 1960s. “I’m saying that my view is there's no evidence of what he's done. Let him prove that he's been there,” Parker said. “I suspect that he was not there, and the reason I suspect that is because he's a guy who says anything to win.”

The Hartford Courant reports, “Lamont's campaign, which immediately seemed to grasp the political misstep, disavowed Parker's claim even before Lieberman produced news clippings placing him in Mississippi. …

“But the damage was done. The episode gave Lieberman an opportunity to reinforce a constant theme of his campaign - that Lamont has relentlessly distorted Lieberman's record in the contest for the U.S. Senate.”

Head On! Apply Directly to the Forehead!

Let's be fair--Halloween is coming, and Lamont was just trying his BoneHead outfit.

Jeez dude, you're not funny. Care to comment on the issues, or are you just going to be a Lieber-ass?

Connecticut For Lieberman

No, Joe's the only turncoat here.

BTW, I hope you're enjoying the FREE SPEECH that Lieberman has denied you.

Remember that, kids; Joe HATES Free Speech!

But you can always comment here, or at the official Ned Lamont blog. Because, you know, we're good Americans who believe in the Constitution.

Unlike Joe Lieberman, who only believes in himself (and maybe Bush/Cheney, if they can help him stay in power).

Well, I think Joe started off with a postable blog, but the Lamont supporters came in and shit all over the carpet.

Tsk. Fith mouth bloggers. You don't know any Lamont supporters who regularly swear, curse, badmouh and lie in their blogs do you?

PS--love this blog! It certainly brings out the best in you Con.Boob.

What's a "fith"? And a "badmouh"?

Dude, will you please spell check?

New campaign slogan:
Joe Lieberman - Supported by Ignorant Low-Information Voters Everywhere!

(This Free-Speech moment was brought to you by Connecticut Bob because Joe Lieberman doesn't believe in it)

For once there is some decent use of English by E. Blankhead ....but of course it was lifted of somewhere else. Otherwise all I can say about that Joe Blog is - childish, mindless and certainly reflective of the low information category of voters that Joe LIE-man can claim supports him.

Joe lost in the primary because the MAINSTREAM voters recognised him for the deluded, morally confused 18 year old DC whore that he has become. And he is so for himself now that at least the pages will be safe from him.

Joe lost, once. And now he is hoping that there are more low information voters amongst Republicans who can help turn the tide for him. If anything, I believe the true Republicans are actually turning to the moderate Democrats. And Joe LIE-man is NOT even a Democrat.

CT Bob,

Thank you for all you do. Your work on behalf of Ned and the other Democrats in CT has been so appreciated by Democrats in CT and all over the country, too!

I read the entire take-down at TPM, and I must say, I'm very disappointed with the folks over at TPM right now. With three weeks before the election - they have their young intern (a wall street floor trader??) write a smarmy, sarcastic take down of Ned. It was sickening. Lieberman has been lying about Ned throughout this campaign - yet TPM hasn't reported on any of that. Makes you wonder, doesn't it???

I don't doubt that TPM has some agenda going on here. I've never really liked their style of reporting anyway.

So one blog slams Ned. Big deal. Thousands slam Lieberman every day. Let 'em have their hollow victory; we'll still crush Joe on election day.

Really nice how the joe-blog link with the TPM title goes to the COURANT article.

J - yeah, I noticed that. I figured it was their typical lack of programming skillz rather than anything intentional.

I don't think they're smart enough to do that on purpose.

CT Bob, your efforts are not only recognised in CT and the US but certainly around the world, too .....yeah, one day when I find me way again to CT, I'll surely look you up and buy you a drink ...or more :)!

I have been following this campaign since Feb and man, the more I read about morally confused, delusional all for himself mini-repug Joe LIE-man, the more I wonder at how his support base of "low information voters" can be so easily taken in ......

Hey! I am a great fan of Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Aberlour, Laphroaig, Cardhu, Oban, Talisker, Maccallan etc, etc......:):):)

And I do Cubans, too ......

And of course I think Joe LIE-man is crap. He lost in the Primary. With record turn out. While campaigning, he claims that turn out will be poor and that the results may not be reflective of his grass root support ......what a turncoat pathological and untrustworthy libber!

So...when are ya gonna be in town? LOL

The worm has turned for poor ol' Joe. Time's running out on his dismal last term. A new day is dawning.

It's gonna be a sweet win!

...and I'm down to my last three Cubans from the box I bought last year.

But I'm saving one of 'em for election night! ;)

Thanks for a REAL "no-spin" zone, the Lieberman campaign is just a Karl Rove machine that wants to spin things their way any way that they can.

The whole "gee, we'd have comments up if it weren't for those nasty Lamont supporters" thing is straight out of the Karl Rove playbook. He bugged his own campaign office in 1986 in Texas, and then tried to blame the Democrats. If your enemy isn't as dirty as you want them to be, then spread your own dirt.

Anyhow, thanks for the opportunity for people to speak their own minds.

Thanks John.

I've always maintained that if Joe was really interested in Free Speech, he'd have his people properly moderate the blog comments, and then there'd be an open and honest dialogue.

He set it up for failure. He metaphorically "bugged his own comments section" ala Karl Rove, just to show the world what awful terrible people Lamont supporters are.

Guess what? It didn't work.

Welcome to the "Free Speech Zone".

Uh, mister boob? Did you see that Ariana is asking everyone to do ned a favor and write his condolence speech.

The bloggers there sure are lemming-like. Looks like they're going along for the ride and have collectively tossed ned under the bus.

Hey anonymous Lieberman supporting coward, I saw the Arianna thing. I can't help it if you're too stupid to see what she's doing. The only bus around is the one Joe's going to catch home after he loses his job! LOL!

that's a great point bob. Except most of the polls I saw show old neddy down by 10+ points. It wont even be close, because connecticut voters can smell garbage and ned and his merry band of excrement is garbage.

Another advantage to your service allowing us to read LIEberspew, without having to actually see that crappy site, is it also keeps their hit-count down! Another WTG BA!
