Rep. John Lewis speaks out for Joe

(posted on October 13, 2006)

Below is a statement from Rep. John Lewis, a well-known leader of the Civil Rights Movement.

“Joe Lieberman is my colleague in Congress, my friend and my brother. Anyone who questions his commitment to civil rights is putting politics above the facts. As a young student, Joe Lieberman left the comfort of Connecticut to be a foot soldier in the drive to register black voters.

"Joe Lieberman responded to the greatest moral crisis of our time: He came to the heart of the delta of Mississippi to help tear down the walls of segregation and racial discrimination and he marched with Martin Luther King in the March on Washington. He is a man of principle and faith, who has worked his whole life to help give the hope and opportunity of the American dream to all people, regardless of the color of their skin.”

Very touching.

It's too bad that Lamont wouldn't leave the comfort of his all-white Connecticut country club until he needed to be politically correct to campaing for senator.

Lamont isn't the right man for the job.

What's Jane Hamsher been up to lately? Have any new photoshoppes to share?

Jane's too busy spending FDL donations on plastic surgery.

CT-SEN:
Lamont Smacks Forehead Repeatedly, Berates Self as “Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!”

No Ben!

It's Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

Why are you idiots worried about Jane Hamsher? Don't you know your hero, Joe Lieberman, is busy propping up his boss, George W. Bush? Go over to Joe's website and comment upon that for a change.

Oh I forgot...Joe hates free speech. Wow, what a great senator.

Meanwhile, what has Lieberman done to help African-Americans since 1963? Cutting back public funding to schools is real helpful. School vouchers, now THERE'S a great plan! Why not just burn the money instead of giving it to rich white Americans to send their kids to exclusive schools?

Yeah, Joe's been a real friend to the blacks. I'm sure they love him for it.

But you go ahead and worry about Jane Hamsher.

Ass.

You need to talk to Ned about that. Where do his children attend school? Where did Ned go to school?

Ned missed votes that would have helped return a school destroyed by fire to oepration. I guess Ned thinks it was okay and didn't need the funding. Who needs blackboards when you can just write on the charred walls.

Ned doesn't take money from the public schools to finance his kids education.

And he doesn't take millions of dollars from big pharma, insurance companies, and lobbyists of every ilk out there. He never will.

Why does it annoy you Liebertrolls so much that Ned can't be bought? Do YOU love the big pharacutical companies so much that you'll let your elderly parents go without their meds because Joe voted AGAINST letting Medicare negotiate for better prices with drug companies? Will YOU be the ones who bail your parents out of the "donut hole" that Joe helped create?

Keep reading, children. You're learning new things every time you come here.

Bob is just upset about the new poll numbers. There there, Bob. It's ok. I'm sure Ned will be more than happy to let you run his blog when he runs for president of his neighborhood association.

Never address any issues, just make noise.

You sound exactly like Joe!

What issues would you like me to address, Bobby? Go ahead, pick one.

I mentioned it above; Joe accepts tons of money from Big Pharma, then votes to prevent Medicare from negotiating lower drug prices. Why?

Students/teachers don't use chalkboards anymore. Dry erase or digital media. Joe's chalkboard commercial really hit home with... well, nobody. Joe hasn't a clue about what those in their late teens/early 20's care about...[conversely, See Ned Lamont ROCK UConn & SCSU] And the older, middle class CT Citizens? Well, they dumped JL in the Primary Election. Oh, the Senior Citizens... they feeled betrayed as much as anyone by Joe Lieberman. Time for a CHANGE, via Ned Lamont. THANKS be to Bob, for helping us get our messages to 'Joe2006', one way or another. (Not that they care about constituents...)

How about the 16 billion dollars that would have been cut from cancer research? Or eliminating bulk purchase power? Or the fact that it was going to screw over low income seniors. You know, the people who have to choose between taking their meds or eating? If Joe is in the pocket of Big Pharma, why is he in favor of making it legal for states to import prescription drugs from Canada?

What's Ned's grand plan to take care of the seniors? Should we assume he'll send them all to Wal-Mart for their $4.00 refills? That would put a few extra bucks in Ned's pocket.

Let's start with Medicare being allowed to NEGOTIATE with drug companies. THAT'S a good place to start.

And Wal-Mart donated to Joe. Repeatedly. Joe only gave it back when the press (including me) started asking him about it. Joe's gotten more from Wal-Mart than Ned ever will.

As Joe mentioned by in '88..."Three terms is enough for a Senator".

Explain to me how Medicare being allowed to negotiate with drug companies will accomplish anything? Think about it. You'll have a government agency negotiating with pharma. And you know who usually gets screwed with the government negotiates with big business? We do.

"blah ..blah ....He is a man of principle and faith, who has worked his whole life to help give the hope and opportunity of the American dream to all people, regardless of the color of their skin.”

More accurate to include the words " ...used to be ..."

18 years in Washington has turned Joe into a morally confused, delusional and dishonest politician who is just for himself. If there is any cause at stake, you know which Joe is going to take - the side that pays him more. Big Oil, Big Pharma, Defence etc ....does the little man matters? Only when he can find them at his diners quickies (remember ...just shake my hands and NO questiions please ...)

Follow the money and you'll Joe LIE-man there.

What a USED, and USELESS sorry excuse of a man ...18 years in DC is just too long for Joe .....go remind him that he actually LOST the Democrat Party's Primary to Ned Lamont....... and now it is just a sorry excuse of some crap "CT for LIE-man Party - whatever it means ..... and he is doing the ultimate whoring - an ex-Democrat, or a DINO being the puppet of BUSHIT, DICK and company ....

Goodness! Is Lewis writing in support of Joe, or just reading an obituary?

Lewis is hardly a moral-highgrounder. His campaign to unseat Julian Bond was absolutely sleazy and included plenty of fabrication; anything he says automatically comes with an entire mine-full of salt.

Pressed, yes, but not the press.
