Mary Landrieu sticks with Joe

Posted October 26th

Joe accepted the endorsement of Democratic Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu today at the Berlin EMS Headquarters, where the two Senators met with members of the Connecticut emergency response community. Senators Landrieu and Joe also helped deliver “Stars of Life” awards to over a dozen emergency responders from Connecticut who traveled to Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Landrieu said of why she's sticking with Joe:

"I came here today to thank Connecticut’s emergency responders, but I also wanted to give my unequivocal support to Joe Lieberman. He is one of the strongest and most effective statesmen in the United States Senate and I strongly endorse him for reelection. This state and our nation need him back there.

"One of the first calls I made after the levees broke was to Joe Lieberman. In a time of national crisis, Joe had the calm, intelligence and compassion to help get me - and our country - through those difficult months. We have a long way to go in this country to strengthen our homeland security, and Joe Lieberman has the experience, intelligence and integrity to help us reach our goals and make us safer.

"Joe’s record in the Senate, what he’s done for Connecticut and the nation, justifies why I have broken from our Democratic party to endorse him – a party both of us respect. People are tired of the slash and burn politics in Washington these days. Joe is the type of leader who can take us in a new direction."

I can't believe that Mary Landrieu is backing the guy who is singularly most responsible for Michael Brown fucking up the Homeland Security response to Katrina.

Lieberman, as chair of the committee to appoint the new HS chief, spent a record short 42 minutes questioning Brown, and only wanted to know about how he would keep the Senate informed.

Not ONE goddamned single question that had to do with EXPERIENCE or QUALIFICATIONS!!!

Apparently, to Joe Lieberman, EXPERIENCE is what you do when you punch a clock for 18 years. Because ALL HIS EXPERIENCE didn't help the people of Louisiana ONE SINGLE BIT!

Mary Landrieu...another proud member of "The Incumbents Club", where all you have to do is abandon your principles and stand by your crony, no matter HOW badly he fucks you up.

It's great to know that Joe did so much to help with Katrina.

About as much as Bush helped.

Maybe that's why a Republican governor called him right away.

And Joe, today Ned and Alan agreed to another debate.

Are YOU going to be there?

I wonder how much Landrieu got from Joe's slush fund to speak all those lies...

Osama bin Laden is hiding in Baghdad and we will find him with Joe's help.
We have been doing a great job over there, just like we did with the Katrina thing. The Republican senators (Lieberman and Landrieu used to be Democrat) from CT and LA are to be congratulated for their firm support of the President.

Maybe Joe LIE-man has agree to be her campaign manager when she next runs for Senator.

Strong on security=stay the course
Katrina=FEMA
Bush=LIE-man

and now Landrieu=LIE-man .....the dots are connecting.

Dick Cheney, awesome! It's hard to argue with someone who's had the success you've enjoyed. Well said! LOL

That's the spirit! I miss the old comments from Joe's Blog that were snarky and funny. The Joe "wife-beating" thread might be the funniest thing I've ever seen.

No, Mary cannot 'stick with Joe', because she cannot vote in CT! She may endorse him, but again that doesn't mean much. Her Bush/DHS sucking up and refusal to push any efforts to seek any accountability was not only sleazy, it did and continues to do a disservice to her constituents. I grew up 150 miles from N'awlins in NW FL, and fully plan to do whatever I can to get this bitch defeated in her next primary for this office [2008].
